THE MYSTERY OF DEATH.

A MACHINE THAT SOLVES IT. DUTCH DOCTORS TALK WITH SPIRITS Two Dnteh physicians. Dr. J. 1.. M.itla and Dr. G. J. Kanlberg. of I'treeht. claim lo have invented a machine f..r holding Uin-ct communication with the spiriis or the departed. They call it a "dynomistograph." and they assert il has proved to them, that spirits are material aud possessed of euliel bodies. Tbelr moil- of procedure i; than described hy Drs. Malta and Znalbcrg in their brochure, "The Mystery ot Death" :- A r'v.in about two and a half yards long. two and .1 quarter yards wide, and three yards high, was constructed. Ii was connected with a passage by means of one door, alt oilier doors aa.l wiudows being carefully scaled. The door into Ihe passage containeel a small window, guarded by biiiuks, and the experimenters placed themselves in this passage, from which they watched the .I'slrumenls through the small window, ln .the room was placed n cardboard cylinder of such capacity that it could contain about two-fifths of the human body. This cylinder ■was hermetically closed by nipuus of sheets of tin. Along Pitch side, however, there were left two strips of cardboard for the entrance of the "man force." as the mauifesting entity was called. The interior of the cylinder was shut off from the outside air. save by a esinall glass and rubber tube, which .-onnected it with a recording instrument known as the "manometer." The manometer was constructed somewhat like a thermometer containing, mislead of mercury, one single drop of alcohol, which recorded the degree of pressure on the air or gas Inside tbe cylinder. The "man force" was asked to enter the cylinder. Immediately afterwards, the drop of alcohol was seen to run along the glass recording tube, showing that something was in the cylinder, displacing some of the gas that it contained. On being reqneested to leave the cylinder, the alcohol drop at once returned .to its normal condition and remained there until the "man force" was asked to enter the cylinder ttgain. when the , esame thing was repeated. Larger cylinders were afterwards tried with success. Subsequently the "dynomistograph" was employed. By means of this complicated electrical instrument, the "man force" in tbe cylinder was made to talk quite intelligently. It spelled oct words io the experimenters by pressing an electric key. beneath which rolled a circnlar disc containing the alphabet. In the course of this spirit conversation the two doctors were told:— That after death man continues to exist ln another form. That this form, the "man force," is 6ub- ' ject to the la-w of gravitation. | That the "man force" can influence the minds of those still living. , That in this second form of life, the law of the survival of the fittest prevails as it , does here. j That this second form of life is tee_mpo- ■ rary, the "man force" gradually dislnte- j The "man force." if is explained, is com- ! posed of a gascons body. On this body the will acts mechanically, canning it to expand or contract, and also to respond to questions. If. however, the body ri«es too high, it disintegrates on the spot.
