BURGLAR AND SERVANT GIRL.
FEROCIOCS ATTACK WITH CHOPPEIS. BAINS BLOWS ON HEAD. At Croydoo William Hill C3IK Netting Dale, was charged with burglary ,at Lawrence Road, South Norwood, and- with attempting to murder Laura Bcekin by striking her on the head with a chopper, and also with attempting to murder Mr. Errol Bow.ver. the occupier, a Colonial civil servant, says the "Birmingham Post." The injured girl, who was n domestic servant employed by Mr. Bowyer, was present, with her head nud left hand Iα bandages. She described how one morning, when she came downstairs, she found the house, bad been broken into. Hill was standing in the hall with a chopper In his hand. She ran away from him, but he threw some- i thins in her i»yes and followed her into the dining-room, where tie struck her on the shoulder with a chopper and foiled her to the ground with another blow on the head. She tried to set up, but be knocked her down again, and continued to rain blows on her head with the chopper until the arrival of Mr. Bowyer. Hill then attacked Mr. Bowyer with the chopper, and cut his hand. Dr. Kose raid that the girl had fonr wounds on her bead, three of which penetrated to" the bone. She had also seven wounds on her left band and arm. and one finger was ent through the middle joint. There were also braises on her shoulders. Prisoner, who had maintained an attitnde of indifference during the proceedings, was committed for trial at the Surrey Assizes.
