Williams -was employed by the White inland Sulphur Company as fireman, and was on duty on Monday. ISth, when one o; the larjre retort.- used in extracting the sulphur suddenly burst under *team pressure, and he was terribly injured. The unfortunate man wa<- scalded on his arms, hands, leirs. and face. lie khs treatetl for the burnn. but succumbed at 11 p.m. on the following , nipht. The -body was brnufrhtfrto Opotiki 1> V launch on the 2."ith. An ino,uest was opened la-t night, and aljournexl until Thursday. Williams leaves a wife and two children, who reside in I'pper Queen Street, Auckland. The remains will be brought to Auckland by steamer.
