A DISABLED STEAMER.

With an unusual amount of weedgrown freeboard exposed, the Norwegian tramp steamer Terrier made au unexpected appearance in the harbour this morning. The v.tftsel came from Corral (Chili), and warf on her way to Newcastle to load coal, but when ishe was three days out from the South American port, she lost niie of her propeller •blades, and was partially disabled.

The Terrier left Corral on January 29 ] under water'ballast, and was. therefore, ! floating unusually high. It is thought that the broken propellor was due to contact with some object in the water, a conjecture that iis made probable by the fact that the propeller blades were exposed by the light draught. A few days after the mishap, the Terrier ran into very bad weather, and the epeed of the vessel had io be lowered until she . just made enough headway to maintain control. A severe strain was imposed upon the engines hy the broken screw, which was running very unevenly, and | was intermittently lifted completely out of the water.
