HUNTLY SCHOOL OF MINES.

The annual general meeting of members of the Huntly School of Mines was held last night, Mr. .1. F. Bailey presiding. The auuual report stated that the title o£ the section so generously donated by Mr. \V. J. Ralph was expected to be available shortly; the plans for the school ha* been prepared and it would be erected immediately the title had been obtained. For this purpose the Minister of Mines, as Council, had granted £300. The Council had been fortunate iv securing the services of Mr. James Limout as director. Toe I finances of the School were reported to be lin a very satisfactory condition. The cash in hand amounted to over £57. To this must be added a. Government subsidy of approximately £70, and by the end of the next financial year over £100 will be-due in subscription's. The income for the ensuing year is estimated at £250. This amount will l>e required to pay the dlrectors - salary, but, as the Government nna half of the amount, the school will hare £125 to meet expenses for the year. The balance-sheet showed the income for the year as £87 7/1, made up mainly ot subscriptions and class fees. The expenditure amounted to £21 16/3, -and left .a cash balance In band of £57 1/3. This was considered highly satisfactory. Draft rules for the incorporation of the school under the Incorporated Societies Act were enbniitted, and unanimously adopted. The following officers for the ensuing year were elected: — president. Mr. J. P. Bailey: president. Mr. James Fletcher; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Elliot and K. Greenwell; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Ernest A. Jones; council, Messrs. W. Jaley, G Langford, F. Harris, W. Gowans D. Graham, W. Brownlie, and Key. M. i. Evans. The appointment of Mr. James Lamont as director was confirmed. It is expected that he will commence his duties early m March. _____„____—
