LIMESTONE WORKERS' DISPUTE.
-V WORKING AGREEMENT. (By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) WHANGABM,.. Moafciy. In connection -with the present industrial dispute between the New Zealand Portland Cement Company at limestone And the employees a conference was held in'Whangarei to-day, Mr. T_ Harle Gile3 (Conciliation .Commissioner) presiding. Messrs. W. Washington .and F. Vkfcerfflin -were present on behalf of the "New Zealand Portland Cement Company, and Messrs. J. McNeil, W. Lnpton/T.'Thompson, and T. Ovens for the Limestone. Island Industrial Union of Workers. Proceedings throughout were of an amicable nature, and concluded with a working: agreement being arrived at .which will in due course 'be converted into an award under the Arbitration Act. At the conclusion of the conference Mr. Washington proposed, and Mr. Ovens seconded, a vote of thanks to the Commissioner for. ■the tactful and impartial manner in which he had handled the -proceedings. The full text of the agreement jm expected to -be available within a day .or two. The new agreement is to date for three years from Ist February.
