Messrs Bassett and Slade. of Northern "Wairoa Dairy Co., and McMurdo and Milne, Kalpara Co., waited on the Otamatea County Council on Monday to protest agulust the proposal to charge wharfage on cream and other local produce. Tbe Council resolved. "That Hobson County Council be asked to take 'over tbe Dairy Company's wharf at Manga wha re. and make a refund to

shareholders of cost of construction, and In the event, of this taking place, the Council will reciprocate with the Hobson Council and allow all goods free between Ihc respective wharves." Consideration of wharfage was deferred for one month, but so far as Hobson Connty wharves are concerned, the Council is prilling to let all j goods pass free.

The Marsden-Kaipara Hospital Board met at Kopuru Hospital on Tuesday, Mr Kernaban presiding. Tbe chairman and Mr Mackenzie were authorised to sign an agreement with Mrs McMillan for free training at St. Helens. By seven votes to six, the question of site for the proposed Otama len hospital was deferred for consideration of the new Board, to be elected in April under new Northern Wairoa district. The Wairoa Hospital's share of tbe recent commercial travellers' concert was £24 4/6, and it was decided to thank the commercial travellers. Tbe question of Dr. Horton's remuneration and that of fire extinguishing plant for Whangarei Hospital were deferred for the respective new Boards. The renewal of beds at the Whangarei Cottage Home was agreed to. Coroner Ariell wrote re the necessity for a trained nurse at Mauugatnroto, where a large body of men were engaged on publicworks. This was left to Messrs McCaroll and Finlayson to arrange. The Board resolved to inform the Minister of Hospitals that in the opinion of the Board where large numbers of men arc employed on public works the Government should give extra assistance to hospital boards In whose districts calls for aid have to be met. The Board also resolved that In cases nrliere other hospitals charge fees in excess of rhw" charged by this Hoard, patients ciluiittcd from such districts be charged at the same rate as that obtaining in their own district." The appointments of Misses Qulun, Whisker. and Philpot as probationers and of Sisters .lamieson ami Hawkins were confirmed. Tbe next anil lnsl meeting of tbe Board will be held in March at Whangarei. At tbe Dargnville Borough Council meeting oa Tuesday tbe half-holiday question was deferred.
