CARGO FOR BRISTOL.
THE FIRST SHIPMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Bristol and Association is -making its first direct shipment by the Kaipara, which leaves Wellington : this week. It is sending 13,000 carcases from Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, and Wellington, besides a considerable quantity of butter and cheese. ■ There weTe other porta, that desired the Kaipara to pick up produce, but owing to the shortage of coal during the, strike the vessel was unable to do so. The market reports received by the Association from its head office intimate that the market is stronger and prospects good, and farmers consider that •the advances made by the Association on shipments are fair and warranted 'by the market values. Representations were made by the New ZeaJand Board of management to their Bristol office, suggesting tlhat they should request the Bristol dock authorities to have the upper portion of their Avonmoirth store insulated, to assist in ■meeting the increase in trade tSiat is in view. Mail advices state that these representations have been made, and the Bristol dock authority has agreed to have the work done. It will be completed next month, and will give additional cold" storage for 20,000 carcases at the docks. The letter goes on to state that the Bristol Dockers' Committee has obtained the sanction of the City Council to provide further cold storage capacity for a ■further 400,000 carcases. The management regard these arrangements as very satisfactory, and feel sure that the course which the authorities have taJcen and are taking should set at rest any fear or any question as to the adequacy or the cold storage arrangements for the port.
