This is '•■Children's Day' , at the Exhibition, and the occasion is being extensively availed of. The imagination of readers may picture the fost. Numbers of family parties arrived early in the forenoon taking with them their lunches, and picnicking on the shaded turf about the grounds. The rush did not, however, set in until afternoon, vhen the luds and lasses stormed the turnstiles with their threepences in a manner which was good to behold.. Youth and beauty predominated, and ail appeared hippy even though tie temperature was high. For this reason, the outdoor portions of. the Exhibition were most popular, especially those which dealt in amusements. All the same there was an encouraging proportion who displayed more studious inclinations among the varied indoor exhibits. A weekly "Children's Day" lias been decided upon—every Friday. Yesterday's attendance totalled 5".i98. COMING ATTRACTIONS. The principal attractions for the immediate future are the conclusion of the professional sports meeting to-mor-row afternoon, and the fireworks display to-morrow night. Tile display will commence at 9 p.m., and continue for about half an hour. ITEPAB.TUISE OF THE. .BAXD. It is understood that the stay of the Royal Artillery Band iv Auckland is likely to terminate about the end oi the first week in February, after which a tour wHI be made of the most populous centres in both North arid South Islands. A definite 'decision has not yet been come to, but,the ilusical Committee of the Exhibition Executive were called together to consider the matter to-day. As has been previously stated the authorities obtained permission through the good offices of his Excellency the Governor for the band to remaina month longer than was intended. It is pro'oabile tlhaA they will tour during the last three weeks in February, and then leave on return for England. Meanwhile the exquisite music of the band continues to provide much pleasure for patrons at afternoon a.nd evening sessions within the grounds. The extent of their repertoire v surprising , , and the- evenness of tEeir performances remarkable.
