FRUIT ANT> PRODUCE SIABKET,
Auctioneers report that the volume of business through the market has greatly increased this week, and supplies of all seasonable fruir and produce liavp been plentiful, and prices generally have ruled very low. Second crade and medium quality plnms and peaches harp been hard to move off. while local lemoias and grapes sold fairly well. Fresh sap-piles of Canadian apples and oranges reached the market by the Niagara. Fiji banatnas are dne on Monday ex W-airuna, and dre expected to meet a good market. in produce, potatoes; are In over supply at exceptionally low rates; local ODions iwr.ro sold at high prices, due to bare market, but the demand in limited, and further consignments of unmatured lots are inadvisable. There will be no fnrther demand for potntoes until after New Year holidays, and growers are advhted not to send any forward. Green peas and beans sold well, while other vegetables were neglected. In dairy produce thi?re were good supplies at yesterday's sale, and both butter and eggs sold under been bidding. Field Produce.—Potatoes : Local, prime, nominal, 2/6 to 4/ ; medium, unsalable.
