HEAVY WEIXTNGTON BOOKINGS. (By Telegraph.—Press Assoenation.) WELLINGTON, Friday. To-day the Wahine brought her , largest load of passengers, totalling 586, l from Lyttelton, but on the down trip ' to-night that record was eclipsed by 70. I Next week, to cope with, the Christmas - rush, it is proposed to send the Maunga- - nui. which arrives from Sydney on WedI nesday morning, to Lyttelton that, even- . ing to carry passengers unable to secure - passages in the Wahine. The Pateena f re-entered the Picton-Nelson run to-day, ' and was a full ship. So also will bo the i Arahura when she sails to-morrow. Book- ' ings by all vessels are reported to be ' heavy. The Victoria got away at 5.50 , p.m. for Sydney with full lists. On MonI day the Mapourika will resume running to West Coast ports, and the Anchor line boats will also get into full work straight away. The Alexander, leaving here tonight, will raise the siege at Greyniouth, and the Mapourika follows here to-mor-row. Fourteen hundred men were on hand this morning to work cargo at the wharves, but the"~heavy rain during the ■' day caused more or less of a stoppage of 1 operations.
