RECOMMISSIONING THE FLEET
MR MASSBY'S REPLY. TO MR. HOLMAN'S CABLE. (By Cab'e.—Press Assoclauon.—Copyright.) (Received 9.45 am.) SYDNEY, this day. Following the declaration that the Australian strike is off the HuddartParker Company has complete arrangements for the re-commissioning of its New Zealand steamers. Mr. Massey's reply to Mr. Holman's strike cable is now published. Mr. Massey informed Mr. Holman that, with the exception of the coal miners and tbe seamen, work was being carried on almost as usual, some thousands of men had joined the Arbitration Unions, and the Government could not. agre« that the position of such unions should be referred to any tribunal other than the Arbitration Court, and then only when a breach of the Act or agreement took place. He trusted that Mr. Holman would do everything possible to remove the hindrances to commerce between New South Wales and New Zealand.
