APPRECIATION OF SEAMEN'S CONDUCT.

Tbe council of the Seamen's Home expressed its appreciation at last night's meeting of the manner in which the "resident and visiting seamen at the Home had carried themselves throughout the recent strike troubles. The manager reported that the Home had been very quiet and orderly during the period of industrial unrest, and the following motion, moved by Mr Potter, was carried unanimously: -"That the council of the Home extends the spirit of goodwill to the seamen resident in and visiting the Home, wishing them the compliments of the season, and desires to expres- apprc i-iation of their gentlemanly conduct during the present tiox__.'' '
