BOXING

The legalising of boxing in States and tbe in-afiguration of tbe Commission plan of handling the same is a good thing for the sport (says an American exchange). It is hoped that more States will follow the pace set by New York, Wisconsin, Montana, Colorado, and Utah. Boxers who have been in the habit of making and breaking contracts to suit themselves will find, where the Commission operates, that they cannot do so any longer.

According to a New York writer, Al Palzcr showed not a single trace of fighting ability in his match with Frank Moran recently, and for several rounds merely gave an exhibition of how much punishment a certain type of human being can stand before crashing to the floor. He tried to come back after a long absence, and failed lamentably. Moran demonstrated that he has a punch, and a match between the Pittsburgh fighter and Smith might be a whirlwind battle.
