Jersey Cflltlfi Breeders' Association since its formation, and was appointed recently to the position of general secretary of the Association, with. , " headquarters' at Pairaersfon Xorfh. was entertained yesterday afternoon at n. ?arev.-eil gathering in the Strand Cafe. Mr B. D. MoLennan, vice-president of tho Auckland branch, in proposing this health of Mr Tapp. said that lie had rendered signal services to Jersey breeders Tor a long period of years. He had a tnoroush kiiov.-|p(lffe of .Terser cattle, and he odd hr- trusted to advance the interests of the breed by every means in his power. Up had boon a ftannch supporter of the Jersey in days when its merits were lint Imperfectly recognised, and he supported It still. Mr A. A. White remarked that~ he T.-as sure that in the opinion, of the majority of tlie .Terwy breeders of Aucklau& ; Mr Tapp'p appointment -was in-the best interests of breeders throughout the Dominion. Mr Tnpp was eertalb to iiaxe much more than his salary at heart in earryln:;ont his duties as secretary. Mr Tapp, in responding, said that he hoped to be more nxefttl In his n-eiv ppht-re of work, aodthnt he Intended to kepp the Interests ofAnrk'nnd iv mmci in the future. He hoped that the local brunch would keep np its strength. rind that the rioie would , come -when the permanent headquarters of tlie Association would be in Auckland. Mr W. B. I-'ordyce, secretary of the Auckland A. and P. Association, read a lpttr-r from the president. Mr ,T. M. Phillips (who co!>:<! not attend). In which the latter congratulated Mr Tapp on his appointment mid the Association ia WCTring a man wlft such an Intimate knowledge of the Jersey hreed. Mt Phillips also expressed a hope that Mr Tapp v/ould be able to secure entries for the Dominion Show, to be heJd at Auckland during Exhibition time. On behalf of the Auckland branch of the Mr McLennan then presented Mr T.'.pn with n puree of sovereigns, and Mrs Ta-p'p -with a leather handhag, as smnll tokens of the good wishes of the members.
