Captain Cumming, hanbourmaster at Giabome, has tendered his resignation after 15 years' service. The Board granted him six monbhs' leave of absence on foil pay. Mr. A. M. Captain R. J. S. Seddon, N.ZJS.C, who has been undergoing training in Kngland for the post year or two, returned to New Zealand to-day 'by the Makura from Vancouver. Captain Seddon will take charge of the No. 2 Area Group (IPaeroa). in the Auckland Military District. Captain Carey, J-.ibe commodore of tire Union R.S. Co., has died in Sydney. iHe retired some ynars ago, but was with the company from its inception, and throughout his long service wae roost highly estcerored, as ivrtl as being popular. Captain Oarey pornsmanded the Mornia on its first trip to San Francisco. Word has been received from the chief secretary o.* the St. John Ambulance Association that the name of Jjoi'd Liverpool wonld he submitted to the chapter-general at the end of this month by command of his Royal Highness the Duke ot" Connaught (Grand Prior of the Order of St. John) for selection as a. Knight of Gracp, and his admission, being pas=erl by the chaptergeneral, would no doubt be sanctioned by His Majesty the King.
