- . 4fi BENEFIT CONCERT. The Salvation Army City Band concert, held in the Albert Street Hall, in aid of the widow of the late Mr Cooke, was well attended. Staff-Captain Greenfield presided. Tbe following was the programme:—Selection by the band: humorous song. Mr Will Skerrett; antbetn, "Songster Brigade": qnartet. Quartet Party: selection. "Songs of Scotland," Band; trombone solo, Mr Clarke; anthem. Songster Brigade; recitation. Miss Mediand: comet solo. Mr Webster; pianoforte solo. Miss A. Strong; English Medleys by the band. Miss Strong played the accompaniments. AUCKLAND BROTHERHOOD. The weekly session of the Anckland Brotherhood was held on Sunday afternoon at the East Street .Mission Hall." There was a fair attendance of members and friends. Mr E. .1. Hutson took the chair. The meeting was addressed by Mr R. K. Howie on "Brotherhood Ideals." Tbe evil of the apft was shown to be its materialistic tendency and ideals in church and state suffered in consequence. Religions and political ideals needed raising. Personal service for God and man was what the world stood in need of. The speaker was accorded a cordial reception. ARK OF EDEN LODGE, 1.0. G.T. Tbe weekly meeting of the above was held in -the Hall. Eden Terrace, 011 Friday night, Bro. W. Rhodes, C.T., in the chair. It being the first meeting of the new quarter, tbe following officers werp installed by Bro. 14. Welhnm. MOUNT ALBERT LITERARY CLUB. There was a good attendance of members of the above club on Monday night. The evendmr was devoted to Impromptu speeches. The speakers who opened up the subjects were: Mr. Wood, who epote 00 "Vaccination": Mr. <i. M. Fowids, "The Upper House"; Mr. F. Astley, "Power"; Mr. Ferriday. "The Abolition of the Tram Poles in Queen Street": Mr. Stevenson. "Strikes**; Mr. Mathews. "Asiatic Immigration."
