STOMACH TROUBLES DUE TO ACIDITY.
EMIHEJJT SEBCIALIST. So-eailed stomach troubles, each as indigestion, wind, stomach-ache and inability to retain food, -Instead of Indicating that the stomach la out of order, are tn- nine cases out of ten simply evidence that fermentation is-takuig place tn- the food contents of the stomach, causing the formation of gas and acids. Wind -distends the-stomach, and causes that full, oppressbm Heeling sometimes known as heartburn, while the acid irritates and inflames the deßexte lining of the stomach. The stomaeß, Aowever, is not at fault. The troubles lies entirely in the fermenting food. Snch fermentation- is unnatural, and add formation: is not only unnatural, bat may Invohre-the most- serious consequences if not prevented. To- prevent or stop fermentation of the food, contents of the stomach and to neutralise the acid, and render It bland and harmless,'-half a teaspoonful of bisurated magnesia, pro*, bably the best and most effective antacid known, should be taken la a quarter of a. glass of hot or cold -water tarniediateij- after eating, or -whenever wand or acidity is felt. This stops the fermentation, and neutralises the acidity in a few moments. Fermentation, wind and acidity are dangerous «nd unnecessary. Stop or prevent them- by the use of a. proper antacid, such as Disunited magnesia, which can be obtained from any chemist, and thus enable the stomach to do its -wort uioperly without fceing-nra-dered by poisonous gas-andrdamrerooß-acfda. —M.F.P.
