THE NEW LYNN COLLISION.
ETTGDrEDRIVER ANB PORTER DISMISSED. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON. Ibis day. In reply to Mr Bradney, the Hon. W. H. He.rries said the cnginedrivcr of the colliding train at New Lynn and tho tablet porter bad both been discharged. The petition from residents of New Lynn and others, asking for an open inquiry into the circumstances of the Tecent railway collision was not presented to the House by Mr. Bollard. It appears that in the petition an error was made in the use of the words " public inquiry,'' instead of " Parliamentary inquiry." It will, therefore, be necessary for Mr. Bollard to return the petition to the petitioners in order that the mistake may be corrected.
