A BANKRUPT FARMER.
ARRESTED ON TRAIN. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Thursday. Alfred Crossey, alias Crossbv, a Rotorua farmer, whose prosecution for alleged fradulent bankrnptcv was ordered at a meeting of creditors held last week was arrested to-day on the train coming from Rotorua. As it had been intended to take proceedings against Crossey by summonß, his arrest came as a surprise. When he appeared later in the afternoon at the Court, his solicitor (Mr. Northcroft) expressed surprise St his client's arrest. He described him as a well-known farmer, who had simply come down to consult him about his case, and was then going on to Auckland on the same business. Accused was remanded for a week, bail being granted on his own recognisance of £100 and two sureties of £50 each.
