TRAM POLES IN QUEEN STREET.
(To the Editors Sir.— In jour insur of vosterday, "Via" rpfprs to tho anxiety on the part of the Aurkland Automobile Association to have tbp tramway polos rcmovpd from Queen Street. The Executive Committcr of thp Association desires roe to point out that tins matter has not bepn takpn np by it rntirply from a prrsonal view-point. As a matter of fact, the use made by our mem-bors of Queen Street is Tery little, but it was felt the matter was one of public policy, which soniponp should move In. Apart from the question of traffic - , our members who, after all, are mostly public men. and keenly interested in the welfare or the eitTj are of opinion that tbe removal of the poles will greatly improve the appearance of the street. Members of the Auckland Land AgenU' Association have stated that the removal of the tramway •poles will enhance the value of Queen Street properties. The Tramway Company has stated that in future tramway construction centra poles are not to be used, so that their undesirability has already been recognised.—l am, etc.. C.EO. W.
