A BURDEN TO OTHERS.
COULDN'T STAND THE AGONY WOMAN DROWNS HERSELF. . (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CAMBRIDGE, this day. Ettie Douglas, wife of Mr. M. Douglas, aged 36, is supposed to have committed suicide last evening by drowning herself in the Waikato River. Mr Dougla6«ame to Cambridge about a year ago for the benefit of hie wife' 6 health, and they had been residing with a relation named Brown while he was building a hoose to live in. ' Returning home yesterday, Mr Douglas found a letter written by his wife, stating that she "could not stand the agony any longer of being a burden to others, and intended ending mattcra." She trusted God would forgive her, and added that her body would be found in the Waikato River. A party, on searching, found the woman's hat amd coat on the bank of the river, above the Victoria bridge, and also footprints leading to the river. Mrs Douglas had been despondent for some time, and suffered from-some internal complaint, for which, she had been operated upon. The police are searching for the body.
