TAXI DRIVER ARRESTED.
MAS SLAUGHTER CHAKGE. CORONER FINDS GROSS ~'. (By Telegraph. —Press Assoelatiep.),! CHBJSTCHLIRCH, Tnepday. The adjourned inquest on the bad? of Ida Una Heath Bradley was resumed this afternoon. The girl died as-the ■result of injuries received in a -taxi-cab accident in Cashel Street between -Fto gerald Avenue and Stanmoxe Road lMt Thursday night. Philip James Kelly, the driver of the car, said he was travelling 14 or 15 miles an hour in the direction of Stanmore Road at the time of the affair. He had no speedometer. He sa« nothing in front of him until he struck something. He saw nobody on his right as he went down the road. The night was very dark. After striking the object be went 11 or 13 paces part the place of striking. Police-Sergeant Dwan said "be made the distance 33ft from where deceased, wai struck to where she was picked up. It was quite clear that deceased was Tiding between the rails when she was struck. In his opinion the taxi-cab ha 4. plenty of room in -which, to pass deceased. S After hearing other witn_s_,„he coroner said it was abundantlyf clear that the witness Kelly could no.t;a.woiuit for his not seeing deceased riding in front of him- The evidence seemed to him to establish beyond doubt that-Kelly had failed to see someone on the tramlines in front. There was only one conclusion he could come to, and that was that Kelly had been grossly negligent in his driving. The coroner recorded.* verdict that deceased had been run over by a taxi-cab driven by Phillip Jt? m Kelly in a negligent manner. t Kellv was thereupon arrested and charged with manslaughter. Upon, m application of the police he was remanded until next Wedmaday, bail "being allowed, himself in £100, and one surety of £100.
