A meeting of the Council of the Royal Humane Society was hell to-night, when the following awards were granted: — Timothy Herlihy. rescue from drowning. Waiknre. on August 7; silver medal. Joseph 11. Iliggisou. silver medal, and Constable Ceorge I!aker. bronze medal; rescue from burning house at Featherston on March -2S. Frank Bell, letter of comniond-ition for preventing A. Crawford from wandering in the bu_i ,tt Tahora. on May fi. Nurse Mc-Karlaite. framed certificate, for assisting those injured by the derailment of the Taringaintitu Compunv's train on September .1. B. Ervvin, third oflicer of the steamer Maori, siiver medal and framed certificate for rescue from drowning at Lyttelton on May S. James Tait. letter of commendation for rescue from drowning at "A'aikare on February 7. Arthur Lukev, framed certificate for rescuing a girl from drowning at Caroline Bay, Timaru, on March 7.
