DU. WINSLOWS THEORY OF THE MYSTERY. In connection with many of the notable criminal trials of the last twenty or thirty years. Dr. Wiuslow. the eminent lunacy expert, who died last month, was engaged ! professionally. As far ns Jack the Ripper 1 was concerned. Dr. Wiuslow was at once a | medical theorist and a practical detective, : and he gave his "whole heart aud soul to the ] study of Ihe mystery." i --Hay after day aud nislit after night." [ lie says. Dr. Wiuslow held from the lirst that tbe crimes were the work of one .-nan and him a madman. As soon as his clues became certain he told the police all he knew, and suggested a plan whereby the lunatic conld be captured upon thc steps of St. Paul's Cathedra], where he attended service every morning. The police, however, refused to co-operate. But. says trie •■ Westminster Gazette." his clues were published, and the murders ceased.
