The embankment at tlia reclamation between Nelson and Hnbson Street is to be pushed , * forward by hrjnginz material from the cliff at Calliope Dock. The report also stated that now (hat timber was available from the old Queen Street wh3rf, the jikidg at the St. Oorge's Bay boatsheds coulil be finished off. The work on the new wharf at F.iverliead was started on the 28th ult. while the beacons ha.ye hr.en removed at the Riverlea wharf, and the pinnacles of rock blown wp. The hrw pumps at the Calliope Rock will probably be given a preliminary run within the next fortnight, reports the engineer, wbile the contractor ie making good progress with the repairs to the caisson. It is found that the bottom plates and rivets that hare 'been protected by the mud will not need so much work upon them as was origina-lly intended. The Parts- of the clock for. the new Ferry Buildings arrived by the s.s. Surrey, and will 'he erected at once.
