PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON.
NEW ZEALAiNDERS , DOINGS ABROA-β (From Our Special Correspondent.) LONDON, April 2. Mr and Mrs A. F. Foster, of Auckland, are over here cm a business trip hi connection with the Foster Adhesive Composition Company, of Auckland, and afterwards go over to New York for aa indefinite period. Mr. Foster spent several months in -New York and 'Pitteburg, and opened a factory in the former place. Mrs. A. K. Bedford, of the Thames, and her daughter arrived early in 'March, and propose staying a year, perhaps a little longer. Their visit is partly on pleasure, and also taken to ena-ble Miss Bedford to continue her study of singing under one of the best masters. In a few months they hope to travel in -England, Scotland, and on tue Continent. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Spedding, of Auckland, are staying at Cannes for a quiet rest, after spending eight weeks touring Switzerland and Italy. The winter sports in Switzerland were more delightful than anything they have had since leaving Auckland, and on their return they intend to see ;f they cannot find a place in New Zealand where the samo enjoyment can be had. Mr. T. Buxton, M.P.. ami Mrs. Buxton arrived in London on Saturday laet. Mr. Buxton is interesting- himself particularly in the disposal and distribution of grain, produce, froz-en meat. etc.. ;it Home, and means to extend his inquiries over all the principal consuming centres of the CJnitod Kingdom. Mr. Buxton is also gathering information as to the methods adopted in farming small holdings in this country, and hopes to visit Denmark and other countries ere returning to New Zealand. Among the congregation present in St. Paul's Cathedral last Monday, on the occasion of the interment of the late Field-Marshal Lord Wolseley, were the Hon. ,1. Allen (Minister of Defence for New Zealand).' the Hon. Thomas Mackenzie (lligh Commissioner), Mr. J. W. Salmon (Solicitor-General for the Dominion), and Mr. Bruce Mackenzie, who were accommodated with seats immediately under the dome and within a few paces of the opening in the Cathedral floor through which the coffin was lowered to the crypt. The High Comaiissioner was among those present -at the memorial service to the late King of Greece, held at the Chapel Royal, St. James', this morning. Mr. Mackenzie was among the guests of the Armourers and Braziers' Company at their annual banquet held last night. Mr. Kwci, of the Chinese' Legation, who recently left London to take up the post of Chinese Consul in <New Zealand, has been succeeded as second secretary of the 'Legation by Mr. Yuan, a nephew of President Yuan-Shih-Kai. :
Amomr the gentlemen elected Fellows of the Royal Colonial Institute at last Tuesday's "Council meeting was 'Mr. E. A. Bnleher, who was recently appointed headmaster of Christ's College, Christchurch.
