MONTENEGRO'S SURRENDER.
PACIFYING ALBANIA.
AUSTRIA'S INTENTIONS. ITAI.Y TO CO-OPERATE. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, May 5. It is officially announced that King Nicholas has informed, the Powers.of the surrender of Scutari unconditionally by Montenegro. Mr Asquith informed the House of Commons of the fact to-day. It is believed that the decision of the Council of War was arrived at by a majority of two votes.
A message from Paris states that there are evidences that Austria and Italy contemplate the pacification of Albania by the establishment of spheres of influence instead of carrying the policy of the concert of the Powers.
A message from Rome states that an Italian expedition for co-operating with Austria in Albania is being got ready. Some of the leading newspapers view the suggested Austro-Italian invasion of Albania with consternation, as involving the gravest perils without any compensations.
The '-Neiie Freie Presse" (ears that the occupation of Albania would divide Austria's strength as t> central European Power at a critical moment.
Other papers say that Austria will bave the hateful part of the work, while Italy will derive the benefit.
Riza Pasha. Batzaria Effendi, and Reahid Bey have, been appointed to act as peace delegates, flilmi Pasha declined to act.
Greek steamers with 6,000 Moslem refugees have left Salonika for Asia Minor.
