FRENCH ARMY TRAILING.
NEED FOB EXTENSION. GERMANY'S GREAT STRENGTH. (Received 10.5 a.m.) PARIS, May 5. M. Barthou (Premier of France), speaking at Caen, said that it was not a c|jieetion of yielding to a contagious madness for armaments, hut the three years' service was a permanent necessity. Tbere was a difference of ISO,OOO men between France and (iermany. and the only way of adjusting the difference was by prolongation of service.
Tbe first army dirigible, 360 feet in length, and of ISO horse-power, has undergone successful trials.
