S.Z. ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION, (by Telegrapa.—Press Association.) WBIUXCTON, Monday. The council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met to-night. The Otago centre uolified its intention to apply for the next New Zealand championships. i..c Otago centre notified that the St Hilda Harriers , Club hud resolved to become an amateur athletic club under the style of the St. Klida Harrier nnd Amateur Athletic Club. The Australian Amateur Athletic Union wrote asktug the i-ouncil'e ionstderation of the "mail vote" submitted by the Victorian Association, ou the reroniniendation that as there Is no effective organisation governing amateur athletics in youth Australia that State and any representatives from it should be debarred from taking part in events with members of tup united association uuril such time a» tile union executive is satisfied an effective organisation hns been established. The chairman (Mr. Marryatt) thought if any euch action was deemed necessary it should be taken at the biennial conference of the Australasian Union. Ho thought every man had the right—lf be were an amateur, and belonged to an amateur clob—1« compete at the Australasian championship meetings. It was decided not to support the proposal, and to embody the reasons for this deeielon in a letter. The council allocated the nest croee-couutry championship to Ottge, on the usual condition!.
