(By Telegrapu.—Press Assoclatlon.) DIED IN HIS BOAT. INVERCARGILL, Tuesday. A Ste-wart Island resident, John Stirling, to-day conveyed to Half Moon Bay by boat the body of John Marshall, which he had found in the latteris dinghy about eight miles from Half Moon Bay. The dinghy was full of water, and the oars and rowlocks were gone. It is supposed that during a. squall on Monday night deceased was 'fishing, and the dinghy capsized, 'Marshall afterwards righting her. It is further surmised that the exertion was too much for him, and death ensued. Deceased, who was 61 years of age, had lived alone in a hut at Horseshoe Bay. SUICIDE IN AN HOTEL. DUNEDIN, Tuesday. A man named R. Irving Johnston, apparently between 35 and 40 years of age, is supposed to have committed suicide In the Gladstone Hotel this afternoon. The body was found on the bed with a deep wound in the throat, and a razor lying alongside. Deceased arrived at the hotel on Tuesday last, and said he might stay for a few weeks. He is said to have been somewhat eccentric in his actions and sayings. He did not have meals in the hotel, and drank very little. Articles in his possession indicate that at one time he followed the occupation of a, commercial traveller. CHKKTOHUBCH COMPETITIONS. CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday.
