(By Telegraph.—Press Association-); GISBORNE, this day. The battleship New Zealand arrived at seven o'clock yesterday morning. Capt.. Halsey was formally welcomed by the Mayor. During the alteraoon thousands of -people cruised around the vvesse-1 in harbour steamers, but there was too much swell to permit of visitors being taken aboard.. Heavy rain squalls occurred during tie evening, and the warship went to sea, returning this morning. The weatiier to-day was calm, and a large number of jieople are visiting the vessel. Maoris dunced a hak-a of welcome. H.M.s. Xew Zealand sails for Auckland at 3 p.m. Later: Heavy rain again set in about midday, making eonditiocß unpleasant for eightseers visiting t-he New Zealand, several thousand of wjham have gone aboard the vessel during the forenoon.
