A PROTEST AND A DISCLAIMER.
We are requested to call the attention of our readers to the unauthorised use of Professor Metchnlkoff's name in connection with the therapeutical use of lacticacid ferments, and the preparation of soured milk. The popularity of the lacticacid treatment is mainly due to the painstaking researches of Professor Metchnikoff, who placed it on a sound scientific basis, and its value, now generally recognised, to his cartful selection of strains of baclld round by him to yield the most satisfactory results.
Attempts are being made by the specious use of his 'name to foist on the public a veritable OLLA PtJpiUDA of productstablets, powders, cultures, chocolates, and what not, which have nothing in common with the carefully-selected strains issued under Trofessor MetchiUkoff's scientific supervision, and he wishes it to be generally known that he resents his name being made use of in connection with products which do not offer any scientific assurance of genuineness and therapeutical activity. The Societe le Ferment of Paris prepare the Lactobacilline Ferments in' Tablet and Powder Form, tinder the authority and scientific control of Professor Metchnikoff, and. no other preparations have his recognition.
To verify the genuineness of these products note that 1 lie words "Li'Htohiiellline" and " Scul fburnisseur d v Professor Metchnikoff " appears on each cylinder. "JLractobacilline" is s-old in a- *s-» cylinders, the correct prices for which arePowder, 10/ per box or 10 cylinders, or 1/ for sample cylinder. Tablets, 5/6 per box of eight cylinders, or Sd for sample cylinder.
