i CAUGHT FN A CYCLONE. ! A wireless message was received last Bight by the Zealandia, bound from Suva to Auckland, from the wellknown Oceanic Steamship Company's s.s Ventura, to the effect that the -vessel was hove-to in a cyclone 50 miles off 'Lord Howe Island, which is about 600 miles N-NJW. of Sydney. The Ventura left Sydney on Saturday for San Francisco, via Pago Pago and Honolulu. With her sister-ships Sierra and Sonoma, the Ventura was well known at Auckland When she was on the Sydney-San Francisco run. The three vessels were laid Up at Sail Francisco for a long period after their running was discontinued, hut some months ago the Sonoma and ■Ventura were replaced on the SydneyBan Francisco direct run, calling at Samoa and the Sandwich Islands.
