TAIHAPE.
A suggestion has been made to establish rreezlng works, in the. vicinity of Taihape.
The winter in this district has set In early and severe, to-day (Monday) snow fell between Waimarlno and Waionru. At Waimarlno there were three inches of snow on the ground. At Taihape there were several degrees of frost, but no snow except on the outlying ranges.
At the monthly meeting of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board on Saturday the application of Messrs Gorrie and Alexander for permission to lay a tram across the hridge over the Hautapu, on the Pongaroa Road, was granted, subject to signing an agreement. A notice of motion was given to strike a general rate of Id. in the pound. It was decided to notify tho ratepayers that the general election of members of the Board would_be held first week in May. It was decided-that no "bullock-teams .should, be allowed on the roads in the Board's district after the end of April.
Mr H. M. Jackson, Dalgety and Co.'s Hnnterville agent, has received notice of transfer to Palmerston North. Mr G. Watt, of Moawhango, will succeed Mr Jackson in Hunterville.
