AN OVERDUE STEAMER.

PROBABLY BLOWN TO SEA. (By Telegraph.—''ress Association.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. The steamer John, which left Lyttelton at 1.30 p.m. on Thursday for Wellington, has not yet. been heard of. She had only sufficient coal for two days, and is believed to have been blown out to sea by the heavy north-west gale. The John "carried 330 tons of produce for Wellington and Wanganui. Jf she is not soon heard of it is feared she will need assistance.

The John is a steamer of 339 gross tons, built in 1899 at Whitby by Messrs. T. Turnbull and Son. She is owned by Captain F. Holm, who is in command.
