An application for a change of venne was made by Dr. Bamford, who appeared for Wm. J. Hall, of Mjvtntoke, Ln n case in which Mr A. Southey Baker was the plaintiff. In the course of argument, It was stated that a Jersey hull bad been sold at I'akuerston North with a warranty that it was quiet. The plaintiff claimed the warranty was untrue, as tie bull gored a horse at Auckland. ORDER SET ASIDE. In the case of E. Mahoue.v v. Joseph Franlch. claim £60 6/1, which had been referred to an arbitrator. Dr. Bamford. for plaintiff, moved to have the order set aside. This was opposed by Mr. Richmond. After considerable arEu:oent, Mr. Cutten set aside the order, revoked the order of reference, and granted a rehearing. Costs, £1 1/ were allowed. ' BELATED MAINTENANCE. Philip John Samways, for whom Mr Allan Moody appeared, pleaded guilty to his liability for maintenance of his three children, the arrears amounting to some £166. Mr Moody explained that his client had pnlied nlinself together during the past nine months, and was about to gn to steady work He was prepared to pay £1 per week—ls/ iri compliance with thret- orders of 3/ e<c(i already in existence, nnd r>/ towards the arrears. Senior-Sergeant Mntblr-son, for the police, expressed his opinion that the offer was a fair one, aud quite reasonable in the circiunstances. Accused .was sentenced to •_'l days' Imprisonment, the order to be snatiendcd while payments were regularly made. THE RESULT OF DRINK. Thomas Dye pleaded guilty In having been drunk iv Customs Street, to having broken his prohibition order, aod to having committed a grossly indecent art in the street at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. , He was convicted and sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard tabour.
