NEWSPAPER PROPRIETORS. AXXTAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Newspaper Proprietor?' Association of New Zealand wa.~ -brought to a close at the Chamber of T'orrmprrp room? last night, the president (Mr. P. Seligi being- in the chair. The members present expressed their -.v illingness to comply with .a request revived from the Hon. F. M. R. Fisher, to thp effect that newspaper pro-prietors and editor* would retrain, when announcing the deatli of an old «<je or military pensioner, from publishing the fact that deceased was an old age pensioner. a« such publication often hurt tlio feelings of relatives, and served no good purpose. It was derided to register the Association under the Arbitration Act. The following resolution was carried: --■'That the president be congratulated upon the steps taken to facilitate the transmission and publication of the Financial and Public Works Statements, and that the thanks of this Association be accorded to the Government for the prompt and efficient manner in which the suggestion.- made were carried out." The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr. P. Seliff; vice-president. Mr. F. E. Hyman: committee. Messrs. L. Blundell, G. Kennick, H. Horton. X. Mcßobie. and , F Pirani: secretary and treasurer. Mr. H. Keys; h< n. auditor. Mr. E. G. Kerr.
There-election of Mr. P. Seli«c was received with applause, and complimentary remarks were made of his services to the Association. Yesterday afternoon the visiting delegates inspected the plant at the "New Zealand Herald" buildings.
