NAPIER'S AMBITION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) NAPIER, this day. The Thirty Thousand Club, an organisation formed with the object of advancing the welfare of Napier and district, is tosiay holding high caxnival in the Borough Park, the function taking the form jof an immense garden fe.te. The fete has been thoroughly well organised, and the promoters hope to realise a profit of £500 or £600, which will form the nucleus of a fund to carry out the objects of the club. The weather is glorious, and the attendance promises to be exceptionally big. FOUND DEAD IN BED. INVERCARGILL, thie day. Isabella McWaugh, a widow, aged 74, who lived alone, was found dead in her cottage at Winton. Deceased formerly resided in Christcirnxch. Sh-e came to Southland five yeans ago, and has been in failing health.
CONFERENCE DELEGATE'S DEATH. BLENHEIM, this day. Mr. Westbxook, a Wanganui dele"ate to the united Rechabite conference; sitting in Blenheim, died this morning, lie arrived on Monday evening, and was immediately taken ill, suffering from an internal complaint. He was removed to a private hospital, where an operation was found necessary, it took place la.sr evening, and the patient died this morn ing.
