FOOTBALL BETTING.
RIGOROUSLY SUPPRESSED. HEAVY FINES. (Received S.o a.m.) LONDON, February 25. The management committee of the Football League has decided to warn players that the officials are determined to put down betting. An Edinburgh bookmaker named Northey Smith was fined £100. with the option of two months' Imprisonment, upon a charge of having committed a breach of the Gaming Act by holding football coupon bettinr. competitions. A man named William Hodgson was similarly dealt with for a similar offence.
