MILITARY TRAINING.
LETTER FROM LORD ROBERTS.
A comTmrpication las been received from Lord Roberts by: -Mr' J. Banbury, an Auckland veteran of the Miori war. who had sent Lord Roberts some extracts from local papers showing ho* successful the Territorial system was. proving in Xew Zealand. Mr Banbury's reason far forwarding the extracts was because he felt some indignation that th* veteran Field-Marshal should experience such unlooked-for opposition to his efforts to arouse the British natron to a sense of its peTil. Lord Roberts' reply is as follows: — "Dear Sby-I am much obliged for your lecer of the. 16th of November, and the newspaper cuttings which accompanied it. It ;s very encouraging for mc to know that the prayers of the loyal Britishers of Auckland are befog offered up for the success of my efforts to arouse ' h ? nation to a sense of its danger.— Touts very truly, (Signed) Roberts, F.M. To Veteran John Banburv, NJLF."
