GUNNERS IN CAMP.
BRIGADE AT MORRINSVILLE.
The camp at Morrinsville, where the Field. Artillery Brigade are under canvas about 350 strong, is admirably adapted for territorial training purposes. The guns were already in camp when the men arrived, and the disposition of the canvas town is such as to secure the maximum of comfort for the gunners during their ten days of artillery training. The sanitary arrangements are perfect, and there is an abundant supply of drinking water and of water for bathing and swimming purposes.
Next Wednesday a start will be made with firing with live shell from the new 18-pounders, the surrounding country being such as to enable such practice to be carried out with perfect safety. The men in camp are the members of the A Battery (Auckland), the G Battery (Hamilton) and of the Brigade Ambulance Corps. Major Sherson, who is in charge, was very proud yesterday of the sensible and self-controlled bearing of his men on the journey to camp, and he anticipates that a very useful and enjoyable spell of hard work will be effected during the next seven days. Lieutenant Daniell is adjutant, and Major Maidlow, who is Omcer-in-Charge of Field Artillery in New Zealand, is also in camp.
