SUPPORT FROM WATERSLDERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Thursday. The possible attitude of waterside ■workers in regard to the employment of free labour on the slaughtering boards at the freezing works has been much discussed of late. Some light is thrown on the matter by the following resolution, which was carried unanimously at a large meeting of the Gisborne waterside workers to-night:—"That this meeting accords the Slaughtermen's Union their heartiest support, and in the future ■will give all the support possible without infringing the Gisborne waterside ■workers' agreement." THE LONGBURN WORKS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Thursday. The Longburn freezing works start killing again on Monday at eight o'clock. The company has been advertising for slaughtermen, and has been successful. SOCKBURN ABATTOIRS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The deputy-Mayor has received a letter from the secretary of the Slaughtermen's Union, enclosing th"c following resolution, adopted at a meeting of the union, held on Monday night:—"This meeting recommends slaughtermen employed at the city abattoirs at Sockburn not to kill any stock for boiling-down purposes." The deputy-Mayor (H. B. Sorensen) informed a reporter to-day that no slaughtering for boiling down was done at the abattoirs, nor was there any intention of taking any such work.
