TOFUA IN A GALE.

The Tofua, having experienced head winds all the way from Sydney, struck a heavy gale on the Saturday before axriv|ing at Lautoka, Fiji, from Auckland. which port she made on Tuesday morning, i January 7. During the gale three of the crew sustained injuries which resulted in two of them being considered unfit to travel, and they were sent to the Suva Hospital. The two m— in hospital are both A.B.'s. One of them got washed down an alley-way. sustaining a strained ankle, and the other shares a similar fate, break ing two ribs. Both men were injured whilst occupied in shifting deck cargo, in order to prevent it from being washed overboard. The third man dropped a bunker lid on his toe. It was reported that the third officer also sustained a severe bruising.
