TO-DAY'S FIAT. CHAMPION FOURS. ISTEmSDCTTONAL. ROUNDS. The first three rounds of tlie tussle among the section winners tor the champion pennant are being played at Devonport today. Instead of playing off section ties, it was decided that the teams which tied for pride ot place in sections A, C, and I> should all play In the Intersectional rounds, thus savins time. So a straight start -was made at 9 a.m. -with the inter(sectlonfll play, the two concluding rounds; of which will be decided on the Auckland green to-morrow, play beginning at 0 a.m. The Devonport green to-day was in perfect ord<er, phiving as Bweet and true as a billiard table, and the games were followed with close Interest by a fair number of enthusiasts. SECTION" A. 1 FIRST ROUND. In tbe first round of this section Wright (Onehunga) met Harvey (Devonport) and Walker (Ponsonby) met Itankin (Mt. Edeni, Osmond (Auckland) having a bye. Both games finished with close figures. In the meeting between Harvey and Wright the Onehunga team opened the scoring with a pair of twos, and at the tenth head were 12—0 against their opponents. The Devonport four remained several points in arrears till the last two heads when a three and two in succession brought them to within a point of the winners, the game ending Wright 18. Harvey 17.

In tbe Mount Eden—Ponsonby came between Walker and Rankin, the latter marked the card first by one. hut Walker getting away hod the score at 13 —7 to his advantage nt the thirteenth head. In the last half-dozen heads, however, the Mount Eden men had the measure of tbeir opponents, putting on ten points to Ponsonby's three, and winning by 17 to 16. SECOND UOT-XD. In this round Harvey 'Devonport) had n bye., In tbe game between Rankin (Mt. •Eden) and Osmond (Auckland), the Auck-. land team had. n lend of two points on the seventh head, the scwes being: Osmond. 6: Rankin. 4. In the Ponsonby-Onclinnjrn (tame Walker (Ponsonby) bad scored 6 tv Wright's 3 on the sixth head. SECTION B. In the first round of section B. Langsford ; (West End) met Stevenson (Stanley), and made a runaway game of. it, the score at the conclusion of the "ilst head reading: Ijnngsford. 2G: Stevenson. 7. The other game of tbe round, between Parsons (Ponsonby) and Brookes (Mt. Eden) was an Interesting one, however, the scores in this cnse being within a point of each 'other. Brookes set out wltih a single and four, to which Parsons replied with five. At the fifteenth head the score -was 12 all, and at the twentieth head 16 all, the last head going to the Mt. Eden team for one, and the game ending: Brookes, 17: Parsons. 16 Casey (Grey Lynn) had a bye. SECOND ROUND. In this section Stevenson (Stanley) had a bye. On the seventh head Casey (Grey IjyiHi) and Parsons (Ponsonby) were each down for 7, while in the game between (West End) and Brookes (Mt. Kden) the West End team had scored 7 on the fourth head. Mt.
