WIDOW FIRES ON HER LOVER WHEN HE BREAKS OFF AFFAIR PARIS, December 16. Details of the shooting of Walter de Mumm, a member of the famous champagne firm, by Mrs Barnes, a wealthy American, as the outcome of a lovers' quarrel, are to the effect that the de Mumm family objected to an alliance with Mrs Barnes, and influenced de Mumm to break off the affair.
