The following telegram, indicating the alteration in arrangements, was° this morning received from the Prime Minister by the Mayor:—"Present time-table provides for special train for Lord Liverpool leaving Auckland for Wellington not earlier than 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Am communicating by wireless this arrangement to new. Governor, and if he concurs your original proposal to tender luncheon can be gone on with. Will let you know immediately I receive reply — (Signed) W. F. Massey." The Mayor, in communicating this information to a "Star" representative this morning, remarked that it was recrrettable that the city had not been made aware earlier that a function would be acceptable. They would, however, do their best to make the luncheon a success. In consequence of Lord Liverpool's previous cable, declining the invitation to lunch, the Town Clerk had cancelled all the invitations to lunch. He would now be glad if all those who had 'been invited would take this indication that the invitation was renewed, and the Mayor and councillors would be pleased to see everyone who had received a card of invitation present to-morrow at 12.50 p.m., at the Town Hall supper room. The Mayor also said that he would lik« to invite the citizens to make a good display of bunting and flags in honour of the Governor's arrival. Captain Shawe, A.D.C., arrived in Auckland this morning, by the E.MJ. Makura, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. The Prime Minister left Wellington by this morning's express for Auckland Lord Liverpool will be welcomed on behalf of the Government by the Prima Minister and the Hon. F. "M. B. Fisher, and will leave about G p.m. by special train for Wellington, where he is due to arrive at 12.30 p.m. next day. A public reception takes place on a dais outside Government Buildings at 2.45 p.m. Sir Robert Stout, (administrator of the Government) lias also come up to Auckland to take part in receiving the Governordesignate.
