Otamatea County Council, l ost his m He was returning from Pahi about « p-m, with Mr. D. Dufaur, clerk of \Z National Bank, when his horse bolt*a? The stirrup broke, and Mr. Savers w., thrown and killed instantly, his „«£ being broken. Both men's horse* w „» lound loose near the body. Mr. Dufaur was seen at.Pahi Bnortrr afterwards, on the wharf. He did not mention the accident to anyone, but subsequently the bank keys were found on the end of the wharf. There is no trace of Dufaur, «ni it _ surmised that he became temporarily demented through the accident, and eouv aiitted suicide. The funeral of Mr. Savers took-pUce to-day, the inquest being postponed till to-morrow. The harbour is now being searched for the body of Mr. Dufaur. ./.'■• Mr. D. Four years ago he joined the National Bank, and for the past two years hu been on the staff of the bank's branch at Paparoa.
