EPSOM.
A meeting of tbe Epsom Road Board was held last evening, those present being Messrs W. R. Bloomfield. R. G. Clarke. F. H. Wood, and A. McDonald. Road Name.—Owing to a complaint re the naming of one road Church Road and Disraeli Street tbe Board decided to takesteps to have the name altered. Tender.—The tender of tbe New Zealand Saddlery Co. for the supply of dog collars at £2 17/6 per 100 was accepted. DEVONPORT. The Devonport Borongh Council met last evening, when there were present: Mr W. Hundley (Mayor), Crs. D. W. McLean. T. W. Cranch. L. Gannon, J. Parsons, A. ti. Qnartley, T. Consldlne, A. Nixon. A. J. Tapper. Old Lake Road.—Mr A. J. Fumes, wrote asking that the Old Lake Road be permanently formed. It was decided to Inform Mr Furness that provision had previously been made for the formation of the road.i but owing to the high rate of interest It! -TA-as Impossible to raise the money; further. that Instructions had been siren to the engineer to see If anything of a temporary nature could be done with a view to improv-j Ing the road. j Tea Kiosk Hoard—g.—A complaint w,.s ; received from Mr J. Miller (contractor for the tea kiosk bnllding on tbe beach) that the hoarding round the site had been wan-1 tonly damaged. It was resolved to reply that the Council could not be held responsible for the damage, and that Mr Miller had the remedy In his own hands by communicating with the police. Cheltenham Beach.—The Works Commit.cc reported that it had deferred consideration of the qnestlon of the removal of sand and shell from Cheltenham Beach. ' NORTHCOTE. The monthly meeting of the Northcote Borough Conncil was held 1..6t evening, those present being the Mayor (Mr. Geo. Fraser), Messrs. W. S. Daniels, A. M. Mowlera. J. Broady, Arch. Campbell. Arthur Greenslade, J. T. Fearnley, B. Van Veen. H. 11. Hunt, and J. B. Tonar.
Sanitary Service.—The question of placing the sanitary service at the termination of the present contract on a different basis was referred to the Sanitary Committee to bring before the Council any recommendations they may consider desirable.
By-laws.—The town clerk stated that he was preparing a comprehensive set of bylaws, embracing water, bnildings, sheds, vehicular traffic, good government, etc. These he would hand over to the new town clerk to complete for the Council.
Sanitary Inspectors.—The sanitary Inspectors appointed by the Health Department reported having visited several dwellings and drains in the district, and served notices in connection therewith.
Ferry Time-table.—The I>evonport Ferry Company forwarded a copy of the amended time-table for the Jwwthcote and Birkenhead ferry services now- In operation. I-t wns resolved to thank thfe company, and ask that the extra trips on Saturday evenings be continued throughout the week, the Council expressing regret that the Company couldn't see its w«y to run a boat at 12 p.m. School Site.—ln reply to the Council, the secretary of the Board' of "Education wrote stating that the Board was unable to alter its decision to purchase a central school site at. Northcote until the matter had been discussed at the annual meeting of houseiholders to be held in April neit. Tlie letter -was received, several of the councillor-! expressing dissatisfaction at the Board's letter.
