At the Greymouth Magistrate's Court a deputy employed at St. Kilila coal mine, at Brunnerton, was convicted and fined £7 10/ for allowing workmen to go into a place in the mine ibefore it was cleared of gas, defendant having been aware of the existence there of inflammable gas.
